Master of distance education capstone

My research capstone is titled “Emergency Remote Teaching and Sustainable Shifts in Post-COVID Higher Ed: Proactively designing learning experiences for the next emergency”. Below I’ve included the condensed presentation portion of my capstone presentation and defense, as well as a direct link to access the accompanying paper.

COLLEGIATE development examples (2021-22)

The gallery below contains examples of Canvas LMS content development and page building for two of my favorite builds while at SPU: the ETM Winter Academy and the Nutrition Homepage Template.

The Winter Academy (2021) was a faculty development initiative hosted by Educational Technology and Media. For the 2022 version, I was given the reigns to target appropriate growth opportunities for participating faculty. As a team, we centered around one particular question: What makes our digital content and learning experiences uniquely SPU? In other words, this is how we align our experiences across academic disciplines to center around common themes, following our academic brand, that impacts how our faculty design the digital side of their courses. Given some creative, light-hearted freedom the course themed itself nautically after the “Seven C’s” of online learning at SPU, with seven “c”-alliterated module categories.

The Nutrition Template (2022) came out of a collaboration between myself, an amazing in-house graphic designer, and the head of a potential MA Nutrition program at SPU. We wanted to create an independent “look and feel” for this program that stood out against templates utilized by their undergraduate coursework. We landed on beautiful banners unique to each course and matching color bars throughout the modules. This way, students who were taking multiple courses each term could better differentiate between classes through themed banners and color schemes.

Implementation Request (2020)

Please note: the audio during the first minute or so is lower than the rest of the video. The volume will raise slowly at that point, and will remain stable for the remainder of the meeting.

This is a video of an implementation request meeting where I propose utilizing a new type of assignment as a response to my university’s COVID-19 response.

Context funding project (2021)

The context funding project spanned over the course of my Costs and Economics of Distance Education and E-Learning course (OMDE 606). This project involved my theoretical workplace, Dursley University, evaluating the cost of adding fully online programs to their catalogue, including costing, analysis, pricing, and income projections. Overall, this was one of the most rewarding projects of the program to date, as it gave me a full understanding of the unique costing elements and decisions required which were dependent upon factors unique to each university.
